The Problem
The same knee replacement costs $15,000 at one hospital and $70,000 at another -- even within the same city. Until 2021, there was no way for consumers to compare prices before scheduling. Now, CMS requires all hospitals to publish negotiated rates in machine-readable format, but the data is buried in massive files that no consumer can actually use.
Our Approach
We ingest V3.0 machine-readable files from 6,000+ US hospitals, compute price percentiles by procedure and geography, layer in CMS quality scores and patient experience data, and model your insurance plan's benefit design to estimate your true out-of-pocket cost at each facility.
